I added this page to show that the leaping mullet on the main page is not a fluke. The first three were taken on Aug. 12, 2003, and the others on Dec. 10, 2002. The mullets were unusually active on both occasions. It is easy to understand why the osprey thrive at San Elijo!
The San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve is a 900-acre coastal wetland fed by fresh-water creeks. It is located between Solana Beach and Encinitas, CA.
